Well, this morning started out with a phone call from R who was on his way to Grand Island, Nebraska for the final week of his internship. The car was kind of acting funny and there was some smoke coming from the hood. After asking a few questions, Steve advised him to pull over and GET OUT! A few minutes later this is what happened!!! Fortunately he is safe and back in Omaha where he will wrap up his internship a little early and come home. Fortunately the company he has been interning with has been very helpful and supportive through this!
Here are a few more pictures that he sent. The fire is out and now it just needs to be towed somewhere. The funny thing is that this is not R's car. It is K's car that they were using for the summer. If you recall, K's first car met a deer at 70 miles an hour last fall. Good thing she likes to bike!!!
One last look at her Camry. As I said at the beginning, we are feeling extremely thankful that R is safe. Things could have been so much worse. I'm not sure if we'll ever know what caused the fire. The insurance company is working on it. (They have been extremely helpful as well!)
That's all for today. Spending most of the day on the phone getting this all sorted out. I think I may put in a movie and just knit for a bit.
Until Next Time.....

Good grief! That is pretty scary - things like that always make us soooo thankful that our loved ones are ok!
Holy cow! Thank God for your son's willingness to call his dad and your husband's wisdom!!
Thank God he got out allright! There are plenty of cars- it would not have been possible to replace R.A movie and some knitting seems like a nice way to relax and catch your breath again.
Holy Smokes - pardon the pun. Thankfully no one was hurt. That just looks so scary. Wow . . .
Wow!! You've had quite the morning....So glad to hear everyone is alright...Thank God!
Oh...by the way...THE BOX is on its way to you ;)

My son had a similar experience. Picked up his car after electrical work had been done, 5 minutes later smoke was pouring into the passenger compartment. He did the "Stop and Run," too, and saw the T-tops go sailing 100 yds when it blew up. We are lucky Moms.
Thank goodness R is ok..boy, that was a close call. Sure hope you find out what caused it. Terrible, just terrible, but a true blessing he was not injured or worse!!
Holy Cow, R was a lucky guy! Thank heavens he could talk to Steve! And, K is one lucky girl, two of her cars destroyed, and she wasn't in them, in either case! Someone upstairs is watching over her!
My mom had a car catch on fire while she was driving it, many years ago. It happened to be a faulty fuel pump that was spraying gas on the wiring. She was very lucky that a high school kid was walking home from a car wash, with a hose & a bucket on his shoulder, and there was a place to hook up the hose, to cool it off, while they waited for the fire dept! The kid realized the car was on fire before she did!
ugh, that's SCARY! i'm so glad that he was okay!
Oh my goodness!! How scary. I am so glad he is ok.
Oh my, that was one hot fire. I am so glad to here he was able to stop and get out safely.
wow, what a way to start the day. So glad R is OK. Did he email you the pictures from his cell phone? Now that would be scary!
So glad that your son is o.k. That
was a close call. Someone is watching over him. I think that K
should give up buying cars.
That is SOOOOO crazy!
Thankfully he got out and all is well!
I'm so glad R is okay. He's got a good head on his shoulders. You've got to be so proud of him. His Guardian Angels were with him yesterday. Take care, all of you. :)
no more cars for me! I'm happy on a bike. Haha they don't usually explode...
