Midweek....

It's early Wednesday morning and I have a few minutes to post a quick note before getting ready for work. I apologize for my blogging absence and promise to be back with more regular posts after tax season is over and I have a life again!!

I am posting this picture of Sophie as a reminder to myself what a sweet, innocent creature she USED to be!! That's right. Past tense. She is kind of a naughty puppy now, but we still love her. (And she is tipping the scales at about 70 pounds, so not so little anymore!!!) Let's just say her latest 'incident' involved a chewed up ink pen on the family room carpet. With the help of the internet we found a mixture that pretty much got up the stain, but it is still on Sumo's bottom where he laid in it!!! I won't even mention who left the pen in Sophie's reach.....

This past weekend we got to see all of our kids, at least for a short time. On Saturday we went down to visit K and had dinner at a wonderful Thai restaurant. I have to say that their Chicken Pad Thai is almost as good as Big Bowl's, which is my favorite. Steve kept commenting how good it was and how we'd have to visit her more often! Yes, we tend to think with our stomachs sometime!!

Which is why our visit to A involved meeting at our favorite restaurant in Ames. Steve and I used to go to this restaurant when it was a tiny little place back in the early '80's. It is now a HUGE place; always busy, but the food is still very yummy. I even heard a rumor that Harrison Ford sometimes flies into Ames late at night and eats there and then flies back to where ever he lives. I could see it. It was great to see A. I would love to say that he looks that happy because we are there, but the truth is I think it's because we had just finished talking about him going to Spain to see CB in May. His ticket is booked and he will be flying to Oveido, Spain for a week and flying home with CB. He's a little excited......

Or, he may have been excited about the chocolate malt he had just ordered. Hard to say.

Well, off to take the naughty puppy and Sumo out for their morning walk.

Until Next Time....

Valentine's Weekend

So.. A Happy Belated Valentine's Day to everyone!! We had a very quiet one around here. Steve came down with the flu on Thursday, which pretty much ruined the weekend he had planned. I had arranged for him to go to the La'Abri Conference this past weekend with his good friend, our Pastor, as his Christmas gift. He was SO disappointed that he had to miss it. Maybe next time!

On Saturday, I watched the mailman stop at our mailbox and joked about how he was probably leaving me lots of Valentine's. Then, he came driving down our driveway and delivered this Valentine's box from my friend Sheri!! What a very fun surprise!! She had put these Valentine Kits together for The Loopy Ewe and I had been so bummed that I had missed out when they went up for sale at her shop. Now I have one of my own. Lucky me!

I did get to curl up some this weekend and knit. I finished the striped alpaca scarf. I was getting very low on the blue yarn and had just enough for the fringe. Not even 3 inches left of my skein!!
Not sure yet who this is for. I have a few ideas....

Sumo would prefer I give it go him. It is so soft and yummy. Maybe I'll just have to make him a little sweater or something.....

Sophie tries to be still and enjoy these lazy days. But you can see in her eyes that she would much rather be outside chasing a ball or the frisbee or stalking a llama. Sumo, well, Sumo has perfected the fine art of sleeping 22 hours a day. It's a dog's life!!!

Yes, I'm Still Here.....

I know some of you may be wondering. I do think this is the longest I've gone without a post. I blame it all on Uncle Sam! Each year my job at the tax office has looked a little different and I've worked a different amount of hours. This year I have been scheduled to work from 8 to 6 every day and we have been crazy busy. As Benjamin Franklin said : 'Certainty? In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes.' At least it keeps me out of trouble....

I have been getting up very early to make sure and get the dogs their morning walk around the back field. With the warm weather lately, it's almost been more of a swim in the back field!! It's nice to have a few days of sun and relative warmth. It would be easy to fool ourselves into thinking that Spring is around the corner... but it is only February 10th. There is more winter ahead.

I hope to post with more frequency once I get a routine established for these busy few months. This weekend I am planning an all day knit-a-thon on Saturday and so I hope I have something to show you soon. Until then, it is back to the world of 1040's; Schedule A's; 1099's etc..

Until Next Time.....
