Red Hats

Yes, today was the day of Red Hats. And it still has me smiling when I think about it. K & I decided to meet yesterday in a town half way between here and her school and shop and knit and hang out. She was also in search of a topic for a paper she has to write for her creative writing course on going somewhere and doing something with a group of people that she has never done before. We racked our brains last night and the best we could come up with was to try and find a wedding to 'crash'.

But when I woke up and went out to the Lobby of the hotel this morning, this is what I saw - Ladies in red hats and purple dresses and vendors selling everything imaginable that a member of the 'Red Hat Society' might need. There were glasses that lit up; hats with more feathers than some birds; purple dresses with sequins galore and so much more.

The selection of hats alone was unbelievable!! Yes, we had stumbled across a local convention of Red Hatters!! They had quite the day planned with a luncheon; song time; and even an Elvis impersonator!! And you guessed it; K introduced herself as a journalism student and asked if she could possibly sit in with them for just a bit. They welcomed her with open arms!!!

K spent some time visiting with a table of ladies and got quite the page of quotes and song lyrics to include in her paper. I am pretty sure she will be the only student writing about attending a Red Hat Society luncheon!!

We also did some shopping and enjoyed lots of walking outside today in the 65 degree weather!! I think we've finally made it through winter!! I spent my knitting time working on a sweater that I started last fall. I am about half way done with the back. I have wanted to join a sweater KAL that Sheri is doing, but felt like I needed to make some progress on this one first. If so, I plan on hopefully buying some Dream in Color Classy when I'm at the fling to make this.

Sumo and Steve manned the home front. I know it's pretty hard for Sumo when I'm gone because as hard as he tries, Steve just won't give him any treats! (I keep telling him he's begging up the wrong tree!!) I know I've confessed earlier into making him into a bit of a monster lately with occasional treats. But who can resist such a sweet face? (Well, other than Steve?)

Off to work some more on the sweater. I think it's almost time to start decreasing for the armholes. I hope I can figure it out......

Until Next Time....

You will do great. It sounds like K ran into a gold mine with that one. I am starting to believe that Spring is finally on its way too. We went for a walk and played at the playground today.

What a cool thing for K to run into for her paper! She should get an A+, if only for the creative topic! Did either of you buy one of the cool red hats, if only for Sheri? Sounds like you had a great time!

You have more willpower than I, not getting started on the DIC sweater KAL! Love your pattern choice! Sheri can help you if you get stuck, since she is knitting that one. Have you picked a color, yet?

Yay, winter is finally coming to a close! Our crocuses are in bloom. We were thrilled to have it up to 62 yesterday with the sun out! My guys even went to see our home team, 'A' minor league, play baseball last night.

Wow, that worked out great for K. I bet that made a very interesting subject to write about.

Sounds like a fun little trip and how perfect that you ran into something unique for K to write about!!

That sounds like so much fun! Maybe you can make a link to her story when she's done? I can't wait to see your Sunshine Monkeys!

What a great find for K for her paper. Karen and I went to a fiber festival a couple years ago that had a very large group of Red Hatters there. They were a hoot.

Poor Sumo, how can Steve resist those sweet eyes.
