Midweek....

It's early Wednesday morning and I have a few minutes to post a quick note before getting ready for work. I apologize for my blogging absence and promise to be back with more regular posts after tax season is over and I have a life again!!

I am posting this picture of Sophie as a reminder to myself what a sweet, innocent creature she USED to be!! That's right. Past tense. She is kind of a naughty puppy now, but we still love her. (And she is tipping the scales at about 70 pounds, so not so little anymore!!!) Let's just say her latest 'incident' involved a chewed up ink pen on the family room carpet. With the help of the internet we found a mixture that pretty much got up the stain, but it is still on Sumo's bottom where he laid in it!!! I won't even mention who left the pen in Sophie's reach.....

This past weekend we got to see all of our kids, at least for a short time. On Saturday we went down to visit K and had dinner at a wonderful Thai restaurant. I have to say that their Chicken Pad Thai is almost as good as Big Bowl's, which is my favorite. Steve kept commenting how good it was and how we'd have to visit her more often! Yes, we tend to think with our stomachs sometime!!

Which is why our visit to A involved meeting at our favorite restaurant in Ames. Steve and I used to go to this restaurant when it was a tiny little place back in the early '80's. It is now a HUGE place; always busy, but the food is still very yummy. I even heard a rumor that Harrison Ford sometimes flies into Ames late at night and eats there and then flies back to where ever he lives. I could see it. It was great to see A. I would love to say that he looks that happy because we are there, but the truth is I think it's because we had just finished talking about him going to Spain to see CB in May. His ticket is booked and he will be flying to Oveido, Spain for a week and flying home with CB. He's a little excited......

Or, he may have been excited about the chocolate malt he had just ordered. Hard to say.

Well, off to take the naughty puppy and Sumo out for their morning walk.

Until Next Time....

Oh no - you are scaring me! We've been thinking about getting a puppy but stories like that give me pause!

Puppies can get into a lot of trouble, especially when they are teething. My Havanese boy chewed on computer power adapters countless times. At $80 each, that got expensive in a hurry! And he chewed countless Ethernet cables, too. The good news is that he has mellowed with age, so that he doesn't chew on electronics much now. He just concentrates on trying to steal food off my guys' plates, when they aren't watching. Your girl will grow out of it. It will just take some vigilance for a while, especially until she is done teething! :-)

Stay healthy! My youngest son has influenza, even though he had his flu shot in Oct. He has a rough schedule this semester, and missing a week of school now is not a good thing!

I love reading your blog and commented on your son's posting about his trip a few months ago...but I had to say WOW Hickory Park is still there!!!!!!!! I attended ISU in the early 1980s and it was THE place to go when parents came to town, LOL. We loved the old place and we would leave smelling like the BBQ. Nice memories - thanks for sharing.

Such is the joy of living with dogs! And this one is deep into doggy teenagehood. Thanks for the puppy pic - it's good to remember how cute they were.

It's funny, when you have an older dog how you forget about their earlier "chewing" incidents. Our beagle, Rowdy, is so good and trustworthy as a five-years-old, but he had his episodes. His daughter, our year=old beagle continues to surprise us with the trouble she can find and the destruction she can leave in her wake...and we're all in love with her, just like it sounds like you are with Sophie.

One more reason to not let the kids have a puppy (allegies are the main reason)

Sounds like a wonderful time with the college kids.
