Sophie - Day 1

Well, it has been almost 24 hours since Sophie joined us. So far it is not going too badly. She is a sweet tempered little thing and I think will be easy to train. She slept over 6 hours in her kennel before waking us up last night, which I think is pretty remarkable.

She especially seems to like men. (I think she's been primarily raised by a man up to this point). Just LOVED on Steve and R & A. She will lick you to pieces if you let her. Personally I don't appreciate puppy licks all over my face, but Steve doesn't seem to mind.

A and CB were still here last night when she arrived and got to spend a little time with her before heading back to school.

And, of course, she got to spend some time chewing on some of the toys that have been awaiting her arrival. We are hoping to provide ample toys and prevent too much puppy damage to furniture; rugs; shoes etc.. over the next 6 months. We'll see!

Sophie woke up today rested and ready for fun! She's already had two playdates with Molly next door (pictures with Miss Molly to follow in future posts). Molly is a 5 year old Wheaton Terrier with LOTS of energy. I think she has found her match in Miss Sophie!!

Steve had the afternoon off today after a long weekend on call, so he's been helping with her too. I think that Sophie tells him secrets about me already!

She had her first walk on a leash.....

And had some quality bonding time with big brother Sumo. (Who she is trying not to bug so much, but it's sooooo hard!!) We are hoping each day will get better for the two of them. Right now Sumo is 'tolerating' her, but doesn't seem too keen on becoming buddies.

Well, tomorrow is another day. I wonder what excitement it will hold. When you're a puppy, EVERYTHING is new and exciting!!! She even met llamas today. Whoa.. are they big!!!

Until Next Time.....

Oh my goodness, Sophie is so cute. I love puppy kisses. :) I'm glad she has a friend to run around with. I'm sure Sumo will come around. He is such a nice boy. I'm glad you're having fun with the new baby.

awww isn't she the cutest! Our Molly still licks the face off Moose and she's 5!!! I am like you, not so much with the licks on the face :)
Hope big brother Sumo is having fun with his new companion and you too, you're in for a lotta laughs :)

Love ALL of your puppy & doggie pictures! Sophie and Sumo will do great together! I hope she settles into your home and your routines without too much problem! Please keep the puppy/doggie pictures coming! :-)

Is there any news on a replacement car for K, after the fire? Poor kid, two cars in 10 months, without even being in it! (I am so thankful that R is ok!)

Hugs, Marianne!

Oh, I'm sooooo jealous. I want puppy licks on my face. Sumo will get used to her just give him a chance. I used to tell Janet, that we got Elsa, so she could retire and live the rest of her years without having to protect us. She'll still did though.

I've been thinking about you and Sophie all day! So fun that Steve was home this afternoon to enjoy her, too. Give her a hug for me!

Sophie is just to cute for words. I especially love the picture of her and Sumo from yesterday. I can see that they will soon be best buds. :-)

She's so cute! Hopefully she will chew mainly on that rope bone and not on shoes and such! Sumo may not be too sure but I bet he will grow to like her more and more. Abe never did want to play with Max but he would like his ears when they sat together. : )

Sophie is adorable! We tried the "lets keep lots of toys for the puppie" trick and it seemed to work with our toy poodle. Our older dog was already housebroken when we brought her home.

Looks like you guys had a great time. I love family get togethers but my family is spread out in to many states now.
