To Luba With Love.....

Let me introduce Luba. Luba is a woman living in Russia who works with young women ages 14-25 who have found themselves alone and/or orphaned and in difficult living situations. She helps teach them basic living skills as well as helping them obtain good nutrition during the long cold winters. When the young women are starting out on their own, Luba helps purchase clothes and other essential items they will need.

You may wonder why I am introducing Luba. I wanted to be involved in helping Luba in her work. That's when I decided to donate all profit (everything above the yarn cost) from the sale of my purses to Luba and her girls. It has been exciting to hear of coats purchased; hats and warm gloves given; etc.. as the purses have been sold and the money sent.

Just this past week I got the sweetest email from a young girl at my church letting me know that she had finally saved enough money to buy my blue fuzzy purse for Luba and could I bring it to church Sunday. I told her that every penny that she had saved would go to Russia to help Luba!

Now you know where the dozens of purses I have knit have gone. (I know some of you have been wondering!) I am hoping that I can knit dozens more to be sold and sent to Luba with Love...

Until next time.....

What a wonderful purpose for your knitting. Where do you sell your purses? I've sold a few scarves and two bags, but I'd like to sell more. My knitting teacher that heads up our group has actually bought the two bags I sold. I would like to sell more bags to be able to tithe at our church. My husband doesn't attend with me and doesn't want our money being given to the church. I'd love to hear how you've sold so many bags. What could be better? Doing something we love to do and giving the profits to a worthy cause. So satisflying!!

Thanks you guys...you are all too sweet. Joan... I have sold most of the purses at our church actually and then by word of mouth. I am working on a blog as well that I'll be able to showcase available purses on as well. (I have even sold a couple as I've been out and about carrying them!!)

Good for you - you are a very nice person to do this (and Luba is too!) I too was wondering where you sell them but I see your answer. Keep up the inspirational efforts!
