Sweater For Bear...

Yes, I have cast on yet another new project! (Leaving many unfinished projects in its' wake!) But this one is for such a good cause and has a deadline of August 31, so it became a priority. As part of the Football - A - Long KAL that I am a member of, they issued a Pre-Season Charity Challenge. It was to make a sweater for a stuffed bear as part of the Cubs For Kids project in your favorite football teams colors. I was a little nervous as I've never made a sweater, but I printed off the pattern; rummaged through my stash for some Purple and Yellow Sugar & Cream yarn and cast on. And it is so cute!! (This is Kirstin's bear modeling. He now wants one of his own and has the yarn picked out and everything!!) If you click on the picture to enlarge, you will notice the adorable Loopy, Brother Black Bart and Sister Louise stitch markers I'm using. They make me smile! I'll also make a hat and scarf to complete this set. This will be hard to part with, I know that already!

I have made a little more progress on my Vikings sock. Only a few more inches and I'll be able to cast off and begin sock #2. I really want to be wearing these come regular season football!!

We have been a little busy with packing up Kirstin's things as she gets ready to leave for college. Here is just one of several piles. I must confess that I'm still in a state of denial that she is really leaving. (But tripping over the piles does tend to remind me!)

Aaron is settled in to his apartment and Ryan has moved back home. Both Aaron and Ryan started classes yesterday. Hard to believe summer is over! We drove down Sunday to see Aaron and spent the day at the Iowa State Fair. Did you know that the Iowa State Fair is listed on the top 100 things you should do before you die?? Not quite sure why.... In my state of mental confusion, I forgot to take my camera! But we had a great time. Got to see a mullet contest; the world's largest boar; 2 movie stars (Maura Tierney from ER and Ron Livingston from Office Space and Band of Brothers.) And of course fill up on junk food. (Still paying for that!!)

Well, short post today. Too much to do, too little time.

Until Next Time....

The colors are all wrong Janice. They should be red and yellow. Go Chiefs!!!!!!!

I think the sweater looks great!! Pretty soon the bear will be expecting socks to match... hey, now that would be cute.

I can still remember going away to school - though I lived off campus in a boring room... I still was soooo excited to be 'on my own'. Prayers for safe trips and not too many tears.

Did you have any funnel cake? my new found fave fair food.

Wait. You FORGOT to take a camera somewhere?? I'm really worried about you. Tell Kirstin that you obviously cannot handle her leaving, as it is doing funny things to your brain.

Well, I think the colors should be blue and white ... just sayin'.

The socks look wonderful.

At least one moved back home, no empty nest yet.

What a great charity! I love those Bart & Louise stitch markers - haven't been quick enough to score a set yet. One of these days!
The socks look great. I need to get back to my sock knitting before I forget how to do it. I hope everything will go smoothly getting Kirstin settled in at school.

what amazes me about the dorm stuff is that somehow we manage to fit it all into the car!
