MY BLOGIVERSARY!

Yes, today is the day. My One-Year Blogiversary! I can vividly remember my first post! It was fun to have a place to journal about my new found love...knitting! I didn't tell friends or family for awhile that I had a blog. I guess I was afraid they would think I was quirky!! (Which is a well-established fact now.. so I don't have to worry about that!) I can say that a year after that first post, I am so glad that I joined the knitting/blogging world! I have met so many neat new friends and have found a great way to keep my mom and dad up to date on our life!!

As you may or may not know, my friend Sheri is the one who originally taught me how to knit and encouraged me to start a blog. How fun it is to spend my Blogiversary with her in her Loopy Yarn Shop. It is wonderful to fondle and admire all of this yarn! (And thanks, Monica, for the great idea of drooling on yarn and then 'having' to purchase it afterwards!!! That technique is working great!!) My stash pile of what I 'need' is growing... and we are still here for a couple of days!! (I have to buy lots, because after this trip my hubby may forbid future Loopy visits!!!)(And yes, that is me holding my stash so far..)

It hasn't just been all play down here! I've gotten to help with the pulling and packing of orders! (More chances to fondle yarn....) Here are a few of the boxes that went out to happy knitters today!

We are pretty much caught up today, and after a short errand, we plan to sit down and do some serious knitting! (As much as I would LOVE to experience a 'Sneak Up'.. I feel it is my job to take my Loopy friend out on the town and give her a break!!! That's what friends do!!)

I have chosen a skein of yarn to give away as part of my Blogiversary celebration. It is Skinny Duets in the Tide Pool colorway. (Part of next week's sneak up, I think!) Now, I know that not all of you are sock knitters... so when you leave a comment, put a SK for Sock Knitter or NSK for Non Sock knitter after your name. I will have a drawing for both. (The prize for the NSK will be a surprise!) The comment doesn't need to be anything special. No revealing of secret quirks. (You can if you want, tho!!) Just a 'Hi' will be great!

To celebrate my Blogiversary, I have done a bit of a facelift to my blog, which you may or may not have noticed. For quite some time I have wanted to make it easier to view the recipes that I post and so I have created another blog dedicated to my Tried And True recipes. (You can also get there by clicking on any of the recipes listed to the left.) I plan on getting more of my favorites on there soon.

Well, time to knit. Since Sumo is back at home, Sheri's cat Zoe agreed to do a guest appearance on my blog.

Thanks Zoe!

(Hmmmm, now I think I need a cat.....)

Until Next Time....

P.S. I will be drawing for the prizes on Tuesday August 14th at 8:00 A.M. Iowa Time! You have until then to leave a comment and let me know... SK or NSK!

i LOVE... LOVE... LOVE the way that sheri organizes her yarn on the shelves!!!

i grew up working in bookstores, and now (obviously) forgo things like eating and laundry to spend hour upon hour knitting... that way of displaying yarn kind of merges both.

(can you tell i'm a virgo? read your whole post and am stuck on how she organizes her yarn. what? no photos of her filing cabinets? i'm such a dork!)

Happy Blogiversary! I am de-lurking to let you know that I enjoy reading your blog very much. You probably helped pack up my order from Loopy - so a big thanks!!! Hope your next year is as big a success as the past.

Happy Blogiversary!! I'm so glad that you're HERE to celebrate this momentous occasion. (Although I don't think you have garnered enough yarn for yourself, yet.) Definitely you need a cool cat like Zoe. She is doing her best to charm you this week. It's working, isn't it?

Danielle - you just need to come visit The Loopy Room in person. You're an "organizer"? We'd get along great. :-)

Happy Blogiversary Janice. I enjoy reading your blog very much. I can see that you are having way too much fun with Sheri at the Loopy Ewe. I think you need another arm full of yarn :) I was just emailing with Sheri about my 25th wedding anniversary year long celebration a few minutes ago. I love your Save The Date announcements for Ryan and Mallory. I haven't seen that before. Best wishes in your second blog year. Kristi P. (sk)

Happy Blogiversary! And how awesome to spend it at The Loopy Ewe! Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like it'd be a lot of fun to pick and pack some yarn. (except I'd want to bring it all home with me)

Sk for sure

I agree with Sheri, the pile in your arms is not nearly big enough. You have to have drooled on more than that!!! I would have to wear one of those new semi soft plastic baby bibs they have now, the ones with the little trough, to catch everything, if I were in the Loopy Room.
Happy Blogiversary and I hope you and Sheri have a great night out!!

Oh yeah, I am SK :)

I'm so jealous that you get to see and touch all the yarn at The Loopy Ewe! Happy Blogiversary. I am a sock knitter and have purchased quite a bit from Sheri. Love her store.

Happy Blogiversary! I am one of your new but dedicated readers. I too cannot believe how small your stash is. I just recently became a sock knitter and I love it. Next month I am taking a class on socks on two circulars since I learned on double points to start. Then I will progress to toe up socks.
Did you start a bubble bag? I am working on the I-cord straps and after I felt it, I will send you a photo.

Happy Blogiversary! Came this way via Sheri's blog. Hope you 2 are having a blast. Enjoy!

I am quirky, as we all are (I don't microwave m&m's although I might be willing to try). My candy quirk- My favorite candy is candy corn (a quirk in itself!). My brand of choice is Brach's and I am very brand loyal! I believe the white tip is the best part. When selecting a bag of corn, it is imperative that I inspect it for the best white to orange/yellow ratio (bigger the white tip the better). It is also important to be careful to find a bag where the white tips are intact as they often break. When eating candy corn, I eat it in sections...from the yellow up. I have been know to take a handfull and eat the yellow and orange sections and then save my whites until all of the yellow/orange parts are eaten. This began in childhood. An interesting fact- it is not easy to find brach's candy corn in August (let alone any other month aside from September, October, Novemeber).

And now you know way too much about me and candy corn!

Hmmmmm...wonder if anyone could make me some candy corn striped socks with just the perfect ratio of white, orange and yellow!!!!

Happy Blogiversary! Looks like a fabulous time was had at the Loopy Ewe - your acquisitions look great! I would love to visit the Loopy Room someday... I think even a 5 tier might be too small for my stash... um, I might have a problem....lol. : )

Lucky you(ewe)getting to visit the Loopy Ewe. I've tried to get with Sheri two different times when I was in the STL area. I think one of those times she was visiting you in Iowa. I live in Iowa too.

I'm glad to have found your blog:-)

Love your blog and your stash is to die for! Right now I only have two yarns to make more socks but give me time! I'm trying to be a project knitter but now that I'm on Ravely and need to go through my stash I know that is not really the case.

Happy blogiversary! However, you now owe me a new computer; I think I wrecked the keyboard by drooling over that Duets... :) .

And, need I say it, (SK)!

I discovered your blog the other day while visiting Sheri's blog. I love reading both so very, very much. I feel as though I'm part of your family. I love the pictures. I am a "sock knitter" and go crazy over all the beautiful yarns. Happy blogiversary!

Happy Blogiversary, Janice. I always have so much fun reading your blog and trying out your recipes. I'm am a little irritated with you though. I was looking at your latest post, and I somehow ended up spending over $50 at The Loopy Ewe before I was finished:)

Sheri should give you a commission!
