Rising Waters

The weather continues to be a problem here in Iowa. We are having record flooding and people and businesses are being evacuated from downtown areas and those closest to the river. M and I spent much of yesterday downtown Cedar Falls sandbagging and I am getting ready to head down again this morning. So far the levee is holding and downtown Cedar Falls is dry. But that could change with more storms on the way. Many other cities near us are already under water - Waterloo; Waverly; Cedar Rapids; Laporte City to just name a few. This is a photo taken at a major intersection coming into the Cedar Falls area. Many many roads are closed and it's tricky just getting around town. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes. I'll write more later. Off to sandbag.....

A neighbor just emailed to say we made the front page of CNN.com

Wow.

Until Next Time

Holy cow, Janice! I pray that you'll all be safe and not have too much damage - floods are just devastating.

That looks like where Monica lives in Indiana. Good luck in your sandbagging, I hope it keeps the waters at bay.

Whoa! That is unreal - I sure hope things will get better soon. I know lots of Indiana is a mess right now too, we feel so fortunate that we haven't gotten all this mess and that our fields aren't under a foot of water!

Wow! The weather has been so crazy. Our part of the Missouri river is a lot higher then normal due to all the rain and snow melt. Hopefully the weather will start clearing up and everyone can catch a break.

I saw a piece on the Today show today about your town. I hope that the rain quits soon. I know that we are getting a little tired of it up here in Minnesota
